@anouncemc #ATDS Interview
Can you give as a little introduction to you as an Artist?
My name is One OZ I’m 27 Years old and I was born, raised and live in Edinburgh Scotland. I’m an emcee and I make boom bap records and the odd dnb feature here and there.
I spit good rap… not to be too cocky but pre writs freestyle in the booth on the street on the stage I kill shit…I’ve loved hip hop since I first heard it and I put almost every waking moment I have into it, weather its making it or just enjoying it hip hop is just an essential part of life for me and it makes me happy…
How long have you been making music?
Writing for 10 years recording for 8 years but I took a big gap at the start before I got more serious about it and started putting stuff out.
How many songs /albums have you released to date?
6 projects
https://soundcloud.com/one-o-z/sets/no-t

and various youtube videos and features
Can you tell us about your new project and the background and inspirations behind it?
I’ve been working with sean for years ive known him since we were kids so we blend well together music wise and we work on a regular basis, so we are currently working on the new united front project and that is what these tracks were originally intended for but we felt they worked well as a small stand alone project so we decided to release it to give people an idea of where we are punching at musically this year.
How have you ended up in the music industry?
I wanted to get into it so I did…I took my work and myself seriously, did my homework and put the graft in, I invest everything I can into my work and stay dedicated to it and its just gotten more serious the more I did it. At first I was just testing the waters but I’m lucky I’ve had a really positive response from my music so that pushed my through the door and now because of what I’ve put in I’m known and respected by some of the U.K’s top emcees and I actually get to work with them!
What do you think of the music industry at the moment?
I don’t give a fuck about the industry it don’t give a fuck about me… most of the money in music in this country comes out of the pockets of corporate big wigs who wouldn’t know talent if it slapped their dirty pedophile faces and the public now have a vast misconception about how to make music they think you go stand in a queue for hours with a million other people to sing for some c list idiot that knows fuck all about anything to tell them if they’ll make it or not…where’s the fun in that? That’s why I try to avoid it but I’m lucky we live in a good time for the independent artist to put out music themselves I guess…
Who inspires you when you make your music?
It sounds cheese but my wife and my kids, I’m trying to do this to kelp make some extra for my family as well as follow my dreams
Can you recite a few bars that inspired you to start writing?
That’s like jewels without ice
Or like china without rice or
Like the holy bible without christ!
Or the bulls without mike
Or crack heads without pipes
The village without dykes
Or hockey games without fights
Don’t touch the mic if you ain’t able to spit
Flamboyant is the label im with motherfucka!
Who have you collaborated with so far in your Career?
Leafdog, Micall Parknsun, Black Poet, Ruste juxx, Eric The Red, O.A.B and Jaegermista and GG Peney from YnR records also Im cooking up a tune with bva mc from high focus records out later this year
What book are you reading at the moment?
1984 I read it every year and it gets more and more accurate every time
Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
AOTP
What was the first album u bought?
Nirvana- nevermind then all theyre other records that was before I discovered hip hop
Where was the first gig you performed and did it go well?
Bannermans and yeah it was dope I held the crowd and got a great response then I started gigging there regularly till we moved the night to a larger venue.
If the question above wasnt the worst gig you have ever performed at, can you tell me about the worst?
I once played a gig in the engine room of a boat to 3 people who had no idea what hip hop was with an eccyd up techo dj fucking my tunes up on the “ones and twos” as he called them that was pretty dire but I stole a bottle of jds from the bar to even it out.. wont be going back there hahah
And the best gig you've had?
Cyphering with souls of mischief on stage after supporting them at a 500 deep after party is defo up there
What was the first thing you downloaded illegally?
When napster dropped I copped everything me and easy internet café were thick g truss
Whats your favorite song at the moment?
Ill Bill- Acceptance Speech
What to you is the definition of a Wack Emcee?
One that wants to be an emcee more than they want to emcee
If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your drawer?
My test pressing of Jehst’s Falling down
Your dream collaboration track for a future album - Producer & Feature artists (Dead Or Alive).
Me, Big L and Rakim on some rugged Premo shit
What do you do when your not making music?
Work full time, be a dad and husband and I chill with mates go out n shit when I can and I walk my dog in lush lush greenery with lush greenery
How do you feel about Underground Hip Hop at the moment, do things need to change?
The scene has never been healthier only problem is the lack of money within the scene which is a shame for artists and fans… if fans would realise that the price of a pint can make a huge difference to the amount and the quality of the music that will become available to them then I think this would improve the scene to a more sustainable culture. I know personally if I was making the same off my music as I did working then id be putting out ten banging albums a year because I’d have 40 extra hours a week to do that
At All That Dope Shit we like to feature as much underappreciated artists as we can. Can you name a few guys from your local area we should check out?
Onetzu Jacob Tzurner on fb hes dope if u don’t already know
What are your thoughts on the All That Dope Shit Blog?
You do a really good service for the underground hip hop community
Anything else you would like to add?
Shouts to everyone I know or have met through this music thing one love you know who you are

Mello Music Group 2014.
About the new album "The Problem"
7evenThirty and Gensu Dean. Rapper and producer. Mello Music Group stalwarts and Jackson, Mississippi natives turned Dallas denizens. Their working together was fated, rooted in shared soil before it was written in indelible ink. With 7evenThirty's sophomore album, The Problem, the duo have committed their destined collaboration to wax, giving rap listeners an album that wrestles with the rapidly changing present and carves out a much-deserved space in the forever-uncertain future.
Though 7evenThirty's first solo effort, Heaven's Computer, was written as a semi-autobiographical sci-fi narrative, he's landed squarely on terra firma this time around. In fact, his previous interstellar retreat inward has resulted in an incisive outward gaze at his home planet. The city buildings might be crumbling, the bars and beats of other rappers and producers homogenized, but there's hope.
With his delivery sharper than ever, 7evenThirty is comfortable and confident no matter where Dean's snares and kicks hit. He moves in and out of double time with deceptive ease. Furthermore, his styles are markedly varied throughout, ranging from rigid and rapid fire ("Russian Revolver") to bouncy and playful ("Foot On the Ground").
Still, 7evenThirty's dexterity behind the mic doesn't supersede his thought provoking lyrics. Case in point, "Making of a Vigilante," which deftly outlines a scorned and vengeful woman's haunting and convoluted attempt to enact justice. 7evenThirty also tackles several other emotionally and sociologically rich topics. The perils and paranoia associated with our dependence on technology ("Off the Grid"), the problems facing the next generation ("Generation Why") -- amidst the rubble, he leaves no stone unturned.
Working solely with his preferred SP-1200, which only allows ten seconds of sample time, Gensu Dean has once again managed to modernize golden era aesthetics, crafting intricate and fluid beats through stringent composition. Favoring sonic diversity over claustrophobic cohesion, Dean's banging suites are perfectly tailored to 7evenThirty's wide-ranging subject matter. Wherever 7evenThirty goes Dean sidles up next to him, flipping lush soul ("Filthy Rich"), blues-rock ("The Problem"), Ukrainian pop ("Foot on the Ground"), and more.
The sole feature comes from venerated New York MC Sean Price on "Hook Heavy." Over Gensu Dean's menacing production, Price's gruff deadpan delivery proves the perfect counterpart for 7evenThirty's energetic and elastic wordplay.
With The Problem, 7evenThirty and Gensu Dean have cut all but the essential. The twelve tracks are clear and concise in execution, totaling slightly less than forty minutes. Not every question is answered, but the most important are explored. Listen closely for the answers.
