@ApolloBrown & @JoellOrtiz - Mona Lisa EP
Detroit producer Apollo Brown has made a name for himself as one of Hip-Hop’s most legendary new producers while maintaining a golden era sound. His production credits are a who’s who of Hip-hop greats from Danny Brown to Ghostface Killah, Ras Kass to Westside Gunn. Even Chance the Rapper used a pair of Apollo beats on his debut mixtapes. Known for bringing the best out of musicians, Apollo has a knack for making timeless classics.
Brooklyn’s Joell Ortiz started on none other than Dr. Dre’s Aftermath label and built a huge buzz in the industry. He’s worked with legends like Just Blaze among others. He then signed to Shady Records as ¼ of the supergroup Slaughterhouse. He’s worked with Hip-Hop titans Eminem, Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss, Akon, and Big Daddy Kane.
Now the pair of Hip-hop luminaries have their first collaborative album on Mello Music Group. It’s nothing short of a masterpiece: Mona Lisa.

@ApolloBrown & @dalocksmith - No Question (EP) @MelloMusicGroup
West Coast Berkeley grad, battle rapper and musician Locksmith has hammered out a reputation as one of Hiphop's most enlightened no punch pulling emcees. From his early appearances on MTV's Freestyle Championship to his frequent Shade 45 appearances, Locksmith always brings cutting lyricism that not only questions the status quo but offers deep truths for reflection. Meanwhile Detroit's Apollo Brown has built his illustrious career on emotive production that draws the best out of already legendary mic kings. From his work with Ras Kass and OC, Skyzoo to Ghostface Killah, Apollo repeatedly creates eyes shut, head nodding, soul stirring perfection for our greatest storytellers to lay their truth bare.
So when Richmond & Detroit came together in the studio the answer was "No Question" - a new project that finds Locksmith ruminating on everything from advice to his younger self to his continued drive to rise without following in anyones footsteps. Apollo Brown is back June 15th with yet another of the best emcees to ever do it.

@thevoiceraps - Crickets (Single)
Phil The Voice a.k.a. the “Voice Scout,” drops a fun, boom-bap-trap, single for summertime. The record has a playful vibe, but a meaningful message. The basic moral behind his song, Crickets, is: “care enough to tell people the truth; even if the only thing you receive in response is silence and hate.” While many artists are currently releasing music that gives listeners a "vacation from reality," Phil the Voice is providing musical "medication for reality" with his new single titled, Crickets!

@black_milk - FEVER (Album)
An organically soulful cocktail of jazz fusion and funk-infused hip-hop, with a twist of electronic textures for good measure, FEVER is one of the Black Milk’s most fluid bodies of work to date. Lyrically, the project showcases some dismal, sharp and thought-provoking commentary about modern society and the current sociopolitical climate in America—touching on everything from institutionalized education and organized religion (“True Lies”) to “fake woke” misogynists and the emotional effects of social media addiction (“Laugh Now Cry Later”), as well as capitalism’s taxing toll on human relationships (“Foe Friend”) and much more. The result is a complex listening experience that is paradoxically hard to swallow, but somehow still manages to go down smooth.
@HerFavColor & @NottzRaw - Gods In The Spirit, Titans In The Flesh (Album)
Blu & Nottz’s epic two-part saga officially reaches its final form with Gods In The Spirit, Titans In The Flesh, which combines the previously released EPs into a single project that upgrades everything about the original. There is a care and attention to detail to this project that goes well beyond a standard reissue that clumps the previous projects together. GITS, TITF is a complete upgrade from the ground up with stunning new artwork by Dan Lish, remixed and remastered audio (handled by Carl Roe and D-Sane, respectively), and a reimagined track list featuring an ethereal new closing track (“Yesterday” feat. Sene & Elisa Meri). All of these fine touches really make the project a treasure for diehard fans, newcomers, and collectors alike. Blu personally wanted to restructure the tracklist because he believes it flows better than before, a sentiment that hits immediately when “Atlantis” kicks things off. And then there’s the one-two punch of hearing “End Of The World” (feat. Rashad) and “Heaven on Earth” back to back, which reveals the true nuances of these songs. “Being some of my greatest material to date and the strongest lyrical follow-up I’ve constructed since Below The Heavens,” Blu says, “I feel more than honored to have both EPs officially commemorated as an LP to stand out amongst a band of classic full lengths produced by Nottz, like Asher Roth, Kardinal Offishall, Rapper Big Pooh and so on.” For Nottz, it’s all about showcasing the hypothetical Hip-Hop beast dwelling beneath the surface of the previously released EPs. “Gods in the Spirit was the beginning—an eye opener to the madness that me and Blu were about to unleash—while Titans in the Flesh unleashed the wrath” he says. “With both EPs now combined, it’s a wrap—the kraken has officially been released with reckless abandon.”

The Perceptionists - Low Resolution EP @AkrobatikMC @therealMrLif
The Perceptionists returned last year with their first new group album in years. The official release led to a tour and even an appearance on NPR's "Tiny Desk Concert" with a live band. But for 2018, they wanted to rough the edges up and revisit it. Enter Paten Locke. Paten had produced a pair of tracks on the original record that were fan favorites, so he seemed like a natural choice to rework 7 of the albums best tracks. On top of that, Paten, Mr. Lif and Akrobatik created an entirely fresh joint titled "Bait." The result is "Low Resolution" an 8 track long record that brings "Resolution" into a completely different light.

On her latest release, “Forever”, the arresting visuals of the music video capture the song’s empowering message. Over an ominous bass line, the hip-hop heroine goes from spitting bars amongst the breathtaking surroundings of Georgia’s Providence Canyon, to overtaking an ornate throne as she drops lines like, “No, I’m not flawless. I’m scarred up, and I’m fine with it.” She goes on to recount how mama taught her “stay woke,” admit her own body image struggles, and name-check Do The Right Thing. It feels like it could be rap’s own answer to the “No-Makeup Movement.”
However, her message is just starting to resound on a grand scale…
